The village offers restaurants, a wine bar, tapas bar, small grocery, charcuterie (butcher and deli), pharmacy, post office, ATM, tabac (good for buying a Herald Tribune if you need your news fix), library, and tourist office. Wednesday morning enjoy the weekly village market with stalls selling incredibly fresh fruits and vegetables, pâtés and hams, meats and cheeses, hot roast chicken to take home for lunch, flowers and plants, clothes, and much more. This is a great social occasion and everyone meets here to chat. Be sure to visit the Moulin Llevant for some fresh pressed olive oil. Adjacent to the house, on Place de la Republique, is the medieval church, Eglise St. Felix with a beautiful gold carved screen behind the altar. On warm summer evenings you can dance the Sardane (traditional Catalan dance) in the square. Nearby are the old tower and museum. You can expect 300 days of sunshine a year in the Languedoc. The summers are warm and dry, with an average summer temperature of 65 to 80 degrees, with highs into the 90’s. From spring through fall, the area is popular with walkers, cyclists and mountaineers. Winters in Laroque des Albères are mild and skiing is available in the Pyrénées.
